Just got back to my room after my expres test (read: fitness test, military style).... Halelujah, it is over and I passed, I even reached the incentive level and am now exempt from doing it again until 2012.. Hooray!
Last night we had our Graduation Dinner with the Command Team. Our current CO and his Cox'n as well as the new CO were there and the whole command hallway from the unit, plus all the junior officers. We had reservations at a cute italian restaurant in Barrie, turned out to be quite yummy, although my Beef Carpaccio was VERY oily and not as pleasant as I had hoped for. My Penne a la Vodka was delicious and I thought a carb loading meal would be a good thing to eat before my test this morning. Pete had nice roasted red pepper salad and yummy salmon dish, and both skipped out on Tiramisu (it's a sugar free month). Unlike all the fantastic food blogs that I scroll through daily, I did not photograph the meals (didn't want to try that out in front of the bosses). We have another graduation next week, I'm technically on leave tuesday onwards and m not sure if I want to go out with all the same people to another long dinner - we'll see where we decide to go and if I want to subject myself to more schmoozing, I know Pete doesn't.
In an hour I have an appointment at the Base Clothing Stores to return all my green army gear... I fly out to QC in one week and will not be donning any green kit between now and the end of the year. Now, all that is left is to pack up my room and move for 2 months... I think I will be back to Borden for another 6 month contract after QC so it's a bit annoying to pack up everything only to come back to it. Oh well, at least I won't have to drive 4 days across country again :)
Happy Friday to all!

Weekend Update
So I finally have my phone back... last night after work I zipped over to my Aunt's house for some chit chat and yummy dinner... I love when people make me dinner, because really - do I want to make a whole dinner for myself? Besides that - I love hanging out with my Aunt and Grandma...
So there we were chatting away... eating a fantastic dinner and suddenly it was 11:30.. yikes!!! Time for bed... so I drove home, got into bed and realised my phone was sitting on the kitchen counter. Not good...
No worries, though I still have email right... this morning I got up, planned my movie date with Megan... got ready and walked down to the theatre... it is very very cold out p.s.
We watched The Assassination of Jesse James. Not bad, a bit depressing, a bit somber, but the Alberta scenery was great and I'm a wee bit embarrassed to admit that I didn't know how he died.... turns out it was a bit crap...... It was great to see Megan again, her life is so much more glamorous than mine and thus I enjoy living vicariously through her. Back to the movie though - it was shot with somewhat of a cold light so I spent the entire movie with my jacket on.. but Brad is looking a bit haggard, and tired.. he needs some R&R or some plastic surgery or something...
Afterwards it was back to running errands, up to Crowfoot Chapters to grab some books for the kids in the Evenstart program and back out to the house for my phone. More dinner (thank you!!) and then back home for a night in...
Oh, I guess I should talk about Friday. It was quite the night - I worked during the day, worked at night, met up with Eleni and Katherine for the Reagle Beagle's monthly theme night / music trivia night. This month's theme - White Trash - and although I was not in costume they sure were. Eleni in a walmart get-up and Katherine as a trucker, it was a sight to behold and I am so glad that I popped by to see it! Bravo girls, you made my night!!!
K, I'm done for today.
Ciao!

No more Italian for us!
I cannot wait a moment longer to tell you all about my dinner experience last night. Megan and I were goin to go to La Viena (across the street) but sadly they were not open on Mondays, so we decided to go to La Breza in Bridgeland. Not a good idea...the meal was quite nice, I really enjoyed it, and even had a lovely leftover lunch today, but the unexpected dinner company was really quite exceptional, but in a bad way....
First we got a bit lost because I switched the street and avenue, but after a few phone calls and a dilema of where to seat us in the near empty restaurant we sat down an d ordered drinks. Everything was going well, we were perusing the menu and chatting away when a very crazy man took a fancy to us and decided to engage us in some wacky conversation about this cold weather phenomenon we have here in Calgary called winter, and about the menu, fun stuff!
Further into the evening we were brought free brushetta complete with him offering us the basket of bread - two times - we therefore spent the balance of the night trying to blend into the wall so our friend didn't come back for some more - although he did tell us several times that we were pretty and thanked us for coming in.
Funny thing is that the last time Megs and I - and Heather went out for dinner we had a very similar experience at a different italian restaurant....note to self, stop going Italian and perhaps we can avoid the crazy men...At least the dinner table company was lovely!
